We have our equipment!

Yesterday I received two packages from Amazon.com, one was the Glidecam 4000 and the other was our JVC camera.

My initial impressions are very positive. I love the look of the JVC, the Fujinon lens is simply amazing, and from just playing around for a bit I'd say the controls are very intuitive. I've only seen the footage through the LCD screen and viewfinder, but so far so good!

The Glidecam is difficult to balance and I wish we had a support arm and vest for it. Together the camera and Glidecam weigh 13lbs, which quickly tires your arm.

Yesterday was a big day for NewView, we ordered our camera and some miscellaneous equipment from... Amazon.com!

So from our big list of cameras we finally settled on the JVC GY-HD110U for $4,041.97. The deciding factors were:
  • Interchangeable lenses
  • Tape, as opposed to expensive memory cards
  • Cheap
  • Professional controls
So did we choose the right one? Who knows. All the cameras we looked at had different pros and cons and in the end this had all the features we needed at a price that couldn't be beat.

We also bought:
  • Wide angle lens - $500
  • Battery - $150
  • Glidecam Pro 4000 Stabilizer $390

Amazon held my order until calling me and asking me to verify that I did in fact place the order. So delivery will probably take another day.
